About the instructors: Being both residence of Japan and translators for Soke Hatsumi, Rob and Paul have the insight, ability and knowledge to express and “translate” Sokes teaching and movement into comprehendible drills and principals. Uniting these two amazing individuals is rare and special occasion giving you the opportunity to accelerate your taijutsu no matter your current level.

rob-paulShihan Paul Masse: Since 1994, Paul has been living in Japan and training consistently two to three times a week directly with Grand Master Masaaki Hatsumi Sensei. No other foreigner has this long or consistently with Soke Hatsumi. Virtually unknown Paul has trained at the feet of the grandmaster for 14 years, sometimes translating but always helping, in the spotlight but somehow always hidden!

But now at the request of the Soke himself, Paul has decided to share his wealth of knowledge and understanding of the grandmasters movement to his fellow martial friends around the world to help create the next great community of true martial artists for a better earth.

Shihan Rob Renner: Rob has been training in the Bujinkan for over 20 years. Now living in Japan, he is fortunate to "live the dream", training with Hatsumi sensei and the Japanese Shihan virtually every day, as well as teaching his own classes 5 times a week. Rob is quickly becoming the "go to guy" for Bujinkan training drills.

He has a clear method of teaching which allows you to gain the skills that Hatsumi sensei is trying to teach through body movement as opposed to academic study. Rob understands the essence of the art and explores the principles embedded in the techniques with their endless variations, as opposed to trying to interpret a living art by repeating kata from vague descriptions on the pages of scrolls.
