moti-nativShihan Moti Nativ, 15 Dan, is head of Bujinkan Israel and is chairman of the Iraeli presidium of The International Budo Academy. He has been involved in martial arts since 1966 and in Bujinakn since 1975. Moti has taught martial arts since 1979 including: self defence (Krav-Maga), Judo and Budo Taijutsu. As a Feldenkrais teacher, Moti specializies in seminars for martial artists with a unique course for improving the Warrior Ability. He is retired Colonel from the Israeli Defence Force. Over the past 10 years Moti has specialized in the traditional Kata of the Bujinkan Schools and in performing the Shingen- gata.

He has wrestled in tournaments in the USA and in Israel, is a belt instructor in Kodokan Judo and a certified instructor in self-defence Krav-Maga. in addition, he is certified as a Martial Arts Instructor by the Israeli Formal School for Coaches and Instructors at the Wingate Institute and is the organizer and manager of the Israeli Bujinkan Instructors courses.

"Along my path in the Bujinkan, beginning in1975, I haveexperienced and absorbed the nature and essence ofHatsumi's style and his fundamental principles. Doron Navon, my sensei and close friend, who opened the Bujinkan doors for me, provided me with the substantial knowledge and practical experience which constructed the skeleton of my taijutsu. After Doron's retirement, my relationship with Hatsumi strengthened, until one day Soke embraced me as his student.

moti-hatsumiDr. Hatsumi, the founder of Bujinkan School, carries with him the knowledge of nine ancient martial art systems, passed to him through the warrior and great master Toshitsugu Takamatsu.

For some time, Hatsumi taught and guided only a few students in a narrow dojo within the basement of his home. However his proficiency in Ninjutsu ("the Ninja skills") attracted many curious investigators. Within a short time, he gained world-wide recognition. Hatsumi started to travel and teach around the world, mostly in Europe and USA. Amongst his travels he visited Israel twice, for Taikai 1989 & Taikai 1992.

Hatsumi declared himself a universal personality (as opposed to being Japanese), and his own definition expresses well his open approach to those who have joined the Bujinkan and to everyone he meets. In 1994 he declared his art Budo Taijustu.

Today, with a retrospective view of my many professional meetings with Hatsumi beginning 1987, in Japan and around the world, I’m pleased with my tenacity to persevere on this path, though many difficulties stood like walls in my way.

Through the progression of my development as a martial artist, I became deeply involved in the genius work, Feldenkrais Method (FM) and became a teacher for this method.  My combined experience in Martial Arts and FM provided me the fundamentals to build a unique training curriculum “Improve Survival Abilities”, further enabling me to explore the relationships between Budo and FM in my thesis “the Fighting Roots of the Feldenkrais Method”.

My desire with this Bujinkan-Israel website, is to encourage and support our activity in Hatsumi’s way and to our warrior’s development, as a group and individually. My goal is to share with you the knowledge I have treasured, and to enable anyone that finds an interest in my Budo to use this website to share with others our information and plans.

I wish health and success to all of you."

The Fighting Roots of the Feldenkrais Method Improve survival abilities

Moshe’s way as a martial artist started with his activities in the Jewish defense forces (1925-1930), long before Israel existed as independent state.

fel-bookMoshe was triggered by the consequences of quarrels between Jews and Arabs on the suburbs of the old Tel Aviv – Jaffa. Moshe did not like the inefficacy of the young Jewish pioneers who where not able to defend themselves properly although they where trained in Jujitsu techniques.

Moshe expressed his disappointment by declaring that "I will make my own Jujitsu". Practically he did it - He analyzed self defense techniques and formed an efficient method of training.

Then Moshe, at the young age of 27, published his fighting experience in his book Jujitsu and self-defense (1931). This book is actually the first Hebrew book of self defense.

That was most important milestone which led to Moshe's fascinating meeting with the Japanese professor Jigoro Kano, the founder of the Judo, in Paris (1933).

fel-kanoKano found great interest in the book and his author. In the meeting with Kano, Moshe demonstrated his unique technique for defending against knife stab.

Attracted by this important milestone in Moshe’s biography, I began to research his fighting techniques. I was surprised to find out that Moshe, in his young age, is already writing about high level principles just like a master of martial arts.

I also realized that while Moshe devised his own self-defense techniques and scientifically analyzed Judo principles, he already planted the foundations to Feldenkrais method.

Moshe's activities in martial arts continued for many years - Moshe was captured with the Judo principles that enriched his knowledge and became the first western that was ranked black belt in Judo. He established the French’s Jujitsu club. When the Germans arrived to Paris, he escaped to England where he continued to teach Judo and self defense and published more books: Practical Unarmed Combat and Judo - the art of self defense, and Higher Judo.
